Children's Ministry

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” (Matthew 19:14).

We welcome you and your family to the Children’s Ministry of St. Paul’s Waccamaw United Methodist Church. Please browse our ministries and contact Sarah Branyon, Director of Youth Ministries, if you need more information or would like to volunteer. Together we can share God’s love, teach our children about His Word, and help our children know that Jesus is their friend.

Nursery Ministry

It is our honor and privilege to provide quality Christian care for your little one, ages six months through three years, in our nursery. At age three, we begin to transition your child to Sunday School.

On Sunday mornings, our nursery is available from 8:30 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. Additional nursery times are provided for special services and events as needed. We have a wonderful caring nursery team.

Some Helpful Nursery Notes:

  • Please provide diapers, a change of clothes, and bottle(s) if your child will need to be fed during nursery time.
  • Please alert us if your child has an allergy.
  • Please sign your child in on our whiteboard in the nursery and let us know where you may be found in case of emergency (i.e. Sunday school, Worship Service, or both).

Sunday School

We invite your child to grow in faith on Sunday mornings! Our Children’s Sunday School features a Cokesbury (United Methodist Church) curriculum, ‘Grow, Proclaim, Serve.’ Each lesson features a ‘Leap of Faith,’ a main idea from a Bible story to live out in our daily lives. Our cute little frog mascot reminds us that F.R.O.G. means ‘Fully Rely On God.” So hop on in and experienced God’s great love in Sunday School!

At special times, like Christmas and Easter, we will follow a curriculum designed especially for St. Paul’s Waccamaw UMC.

Children’s Sunday School meets at 10:00 a.m. in the Education/Administration Building room 103.

Classes include:

  • Elementary: 4 years-12 years old in Room 103 led by Tiffany Wanamaker

Special Worship Activities for Children

When you arrive for the 8:45 a.m. Worship Service or the 11:00 Worship Service, please invite your child to pick up a worship bag from the cross in the narthex. The bag contains crayons, coloring pages, notepads and more. Simply return these as you leave.

During the 11:00 Worship Service, we offer a ‘Children’s Time’ message for children for ages pre-school through second grade. Following ‘Children’s Time,’ our little ones are invited to ‘Children’s Church’ in the Education Building where they learn about worship, practice serving as an acolyte, hear a Bible story, act out a puppet show, create a craft and have a snack. Volunteers are always welcome.
