Chancel Choir - 8:45 AM Traditional Service

It is the mission of St. Paul’s Waccamaw Chancel Choir to glorify God by enhancing the Traditional Worship Service. This is being done by sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ through song, leading the congregation in worship, and performing the finest quality of sacred music for each worship.

The Chancel Choir, conducted by Dr. Robert Baxter, and assisted by Olivia Huggins, accompanist sings for the 8:45am service and gives two major concerts each year. The Chancel Choir, assisted by a string ensemble and soloists, presented their Christmas Concert, Sunday, December 6, 2015. The featured work was Antonio Vivaldi’s “Gloria”. On Sunday, March 20, 2016 the choir presented a program of brass and choir anthems especially appropriate for Palm Sunday. The special program was performed at the 8:45 and 11:00 am services.

The 30 voiced Chancel Choir consists of adults, young and old, who perform some of the world’s finest choral literature. Rehearsals are each Wednesday at 7:15pm in the music room in Berly Hall located in the Christian Life Center. No auditions are required but some previous choral experience would be helpful. Contact the choir president Clem Leyendecker at 843-235-6688 or the choir director Dr. Robert Baxter at (843)-997-6762 if interested in joining our choir family.

A basis of knowledge of music notation and rhythms needed. Our Handbell Choir practices on Tuesdays from 9AM to 10:15AM.

We play approximately eight times a year on Sundays at our 8:45AM Traditional Service and our 11AM Celebration Service.  We also put on a spectacular Christmas celebration music performance at our worship services.
